COTTON GROWN IN SPAIN
In the 9th century, the Arabs introduced cotton to Spain. It was grown in the Guadalquivir Valley. Today, it has practically disappeared.
Our collection aims to support these livelihoods so that they can continue to exist.
THE FAMILIES
On the outskirts of Seville, hundreds of families have been growing cotton on small, inherited plots for generations. This cotton is not produced on an industrial scale, rather, it is a profession that is passed down. Before being transformed into a garment, this cotton tells its own story.
A CONTROLLED FIBRE
Unlike other types of cotton grown in the tropics, this cotton is produced under the regulations of the European Union: without genetically modified seeds, with agricultural practices that save water and under European labour laws. It’s not about a seal. It’s a way of understanding clothing.
