    • There is an invisible red thread that joins the hands
and souls of those who are destined to find one another,
regardless of time, place or circumstance.
And there was an enchantress who had the power to see it.

    • When the Japanese emperor heard of this, he bade her to come to him,
and ordered her to look for the other end of the thread that was joined to his little finger,
which would lead him to the woman who would one day be his wife.
The witch agreed to do so, and began to follow the thread, on and on. The search led her to a market, where
a humble peasant woman was selling her wares, with a baby in her arms. The enchantress
stopped before the seller, and told the emperor to come close: “Here lies the end of
your thread.” Upon hearing this, the emperor was enraged, believing the witch was mocking him,
and angrily pushed away the peasant woman, causing the baby
she was carrying to fall and badly cut its forehead.

    • Many years later, the time came for the emperor to marry,
and his court advised him to take the hand of the
daughter of a powerful general. The wedding day arrived,
and the young lady entered the temple in
a beautiful dress and a veil that covered her face completely.
When he went to raise the veil, he saw that the beautiful woman
before him had an unusual scar on her forehead.
